Operations at Cochin International Airport came to a standstill when a fallacious bomb threat added a two-hour delay in a Thailand-bound flight. The culprit quickly saw police custody’s inside, marking a dramatic twist in travel plans on Wednesday.
According to a statement by the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), the ill-conceived threat was delivered by a passenger preparing to board the Thai Lion Air flight SL211. The distressing alert came forth during the crucial Secondary Ladder Point Check (SLPC) at Gate No. 19, grinding operations to a halt.
Responding swiftly, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) hurriedly gathered at Terminal 3 at 02:00 AM, eventually categorizing the threat as non-specific. Yet, given the shared Passenger Name Record (PNR) of the boarders, the committee advised a thorough recheck of the aircraft and SLPC after having all passengers evacuated.
Eventually, the plane took to the skies at 04.30 am, suffering a significant setback of two hours. In the aftermath, the transgressor was promptly handed over to the police for further legal action.
