The Royal Jordanian airline has recently wasted no time in putting its new Embraer E195-E2 into service. The airline, having received the fourth delivery of this state-of-the-art aircraft, started utilizing it for its revenue-generating services just hours after its arrival. This moves showcases Royal Jordanian’s robust strategy in maintaining efficiency and boosting its services.
Royal Jordanian took delivery of its fourth Embraer E2 jet on July 3, 2024. Mere hours after the aircraft flew over 11,000 kilometers from São José dos Campos to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, it was already scheduled for domestic and regional flights.
The machine, which is configured to accommodate 12 business and 108 economy passengers and has an ultra-low noise level. The Embraer E195-E2 is celebrated for its high fuel efficiency as it is 25.4% more fuel-efficient compared to its predecessor’s per-seat basis. Besides, the aspect of minimizing noise and meeting sustainability goals makes it a favorable choice for airlines, especially in the current scenario where airlines prioritize reducing their carbon footprints.
On July 3, the newly delivered Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, with registration JY-RED, successfully landed at Royal Jordanian’s base at Amman Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) at 14:43 local time, according to Flightradar24 data. Just a few hours later, at 18:34 on the same day, the aircraft took off for its inaugural revenue flight to Greece.
The aircraft, operating as Flight RJ5131, departed Amman at 18:34 and arrived at Athens International Airport (ATH) at 20:38 local time. Following a quick turnaround, the E2 departed Athens at 22:00 and touched back down in Amman at 23:44. Royal Jordanian maintains a daily flight schedule between these two destinations.
Royal Jordanian’s fleet currently comprises four Embraer E2s, consisting of two E190s and two E195s. Additionally, the airline is expecting three more E195-E2s and one more E190-E2 for delivery. Out of the total eight aircraft on order, six are from Azorra’s existing backlog with Embraer, while the remaining two are part of the airline’s direct orders with the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer.
In addition to the E2 series, Royal Jordanian also operates four first-generation E-Jets, which include two E-170s and two E-190s. Data provided by Cirium, an aviation analytics firm, reveals that Royal Jordanian utilizes its Embraer jets for flights from Amman to more than 20 destinations, such as Aqaba, Bahrain, Barcelona, Cairo, Rome, and Istanbul. Notably, Cairo stands out as the top destination for its Embraer jets as of July 2024.
Introduced into service in 2004, the E-Jets have seen global success, serving with 90 airlines and leasing companies across over 60 countries. The E190-E2 is a part of Embraer’s advanced-generation E-Jets family, incorporating new technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce noise levels, and improve fuel economy.
With a fleet of 30 aircraft averaging 11 years in age, Royal Jordanian operates a mix of Airbus A320 family, Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and Embraer E-Jets. The airline connects Amman to 48 international destinations spanning North Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East, in addition to serving one domestic route.
As a member of the oneworld alliance since 2007 alongside Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian provides its passengers with access to nearly 1,000 destinations worldwide.
